Just a few points, regarding the X-Men Panel page updates (this hour) on CBR. Spoilers neatly tucked away beneath the cut, for those not wanting their eyes and ears bleeding.

...When it comes to T&A. Particularly Rogue's... in this particular position... with Remy's hand lingering only very slightly north of her posterior.

...

In my humble opinion, it's still hot.

Hell, the pose is practically iconic. Or is that cliche? This makes the second twisted-back embrace with cards and the threat of exposed skin seen in a matter of months, the last incident being #204 of Adjectiveless. Thoughts? Third time's a charm, says I. Bring it on, Marvel. You can't do any worse with these two than you've done so far.

I might've fallen out of fandom for a little while there - too many real life responsibilites kicking me around, maybe a little ennui - but let it be known that even if I'm not talking about it, I'm still reading. That benefits you in the following way:

FANON > CANON.

I howled and screamed and flailed about last night upon first reading those three immortal words made canon:

Remy Etienne LeBeau.

It's legit; fanon filters into canon: Lori McDonald's legacy has made it to print. Way to go, Marvel!

For you, eleven scans from Weapon X: First Class #3 below the cut, featuring a brief heist by the Ragin' Cajun (as a pichouette so he's still a little skinny and boyish) for the Big Bad below the cut. (I wasn't too impressed by the rest of the mini, but this is the reason I bothered buying it to begin with anyway.)

When I get home, first thing I'm gonna do is steal me a coat... )

Or, Download the Bundle.

Look it that: it's barely midnight, it's Friday, and I'm home in one piece and (mostly) sober. How awesome is that? (No drunk and blog for me tonight. No sir. Just an FYI, if you visit Montreal at any point in time, and you're fortunate enough to get a seat on the terrace of the St. Elizabeth, remember to stir the Sangria. Lucia de'Medici IRL: propagating the "duh" moments for the amusement of others.)

Onwards.

Hey, "True Believers", you seen this yet?

Why, yes, that is Taylor Kitsch as Remy LeBeau.

Why, yes, this is me wetting myself with glee.

(Bigups to [info]irysangel and the kids at the GG for the linkage. The ever-growing GG thread is here.)

Baltimore is the... is the... *flail* I love this book with a burning so fierce it could be mistaken for something venereal if I wasn't so utterly monogamous. I love Mike Mignola. Love Mike Mignola. (Must read more Chris Golden too.) LOOOOOVE MIKE MIGNOLA.

Viva la month of Hellboy.

P.S. I read numero uno of The Crooked Man last night, and I'm doubly smitten. (Without being too spoilery: its set in the Appalachians. Real redneck country. They have snake handlers and people who drink venom up in them there hills. Very fruitful setting, you ask me, for the circumstances of this particular plot.)

P.P.S. Robin Furth is equally deserving of oodles and oodles of love for concluding The Dark Tower: The Long Road Home in the way he did. It gave me goosebumps: hair sticking up on the backs of my arms and everything, because it was just so on with respect to the Roland of the books, and the Roland who was reflected upon in Wizard and Glass... and I'm just one big silly fangirl for anything King right now. Oh, be still my bleeding heart. (I can't wait for Treachery.)

P.P.P.S. WARREN ELLIS ON ASTONISHINGASKWEFSGKGL@#KEYBOARDSMASH! Em-ma-mo-ther-eff-ing-FROST FTFW. I'm a convert. Say thankya. 'Nuff said.

You know, I may be wrong, but I've begun mentally articulating a pet theory that "Summer LJ posting is inordinately slow this year." Serious lack of motivation on my part to come up with anything more than a hundred and forty characters at a shot. (Twitter is just so much easier, and so much more accessible.) On the downside, my Twitlist is peppered with RL people, so the following has been sadly neglected as of late...

i. (Hellboy II) Nuada/Nuala: Need fic now. Needed fic yesterday, and yet, I haven't braved the Pit to investigate. I'd be curious, though. Anyone have any extended backstory on these two? Once I'm less lazy, I'll doubtlessly dig around a bit if there's anything I can draw from to write on, but as of right now, the bunnies are nibbling, but like everything else, the drive to physically settle in and do it isn't there.

ii. (The Umbrella Academy) Who the hell is "The Sparrow"? Did I sleep through something, here, or what? (See the button pack to see what I'm talking about.)

iii. (Demon Theory) I've been reading this book in small doses (unheard of) for the past three or four days, and I'll I can say is that my love of horror has been completely rekindled. Too much urban fantasy in the diet has made me soft. This is a gorefest and a mindfuck, served with a pop culture cocktail. Very nice, in the moderately scary department.

iv. (Iron Man) I would like me a second helping of Tony Stark. When's the DVD coming out?

v. (XME/The Ante/SG/Other ongoing work) ... No one cares. So I'll leave it be, let it settle a bit. I don't feel particularly pressed to write, in any case. If there was pressure of any sort, I'd likely make an effort, but in the fandom world it rarely works like that. (What do you do when you're not writing, you know? Meh.) The older I get the more I come to realize that fandom is a fickle thing and whether you do or you don't really doesn't make much of a difference. So maybe we should be doing more or doing something else. I'm not sure. Maybe I'm looking for excuses, or maybe I'm looking for fresh canon. (Maybe a lot of people are looking for fresh canon... fertile soils elsewhere?)

vi. I like Karmaloop a little too much... Karmaloop and Lucky Jeans when they both have sales in tandem. (Geez. I'm sorry, Mr. MasterCard. *pets the plastic* You'll recover, I promise.)

Ick.
Just a little too much "drinky drinky" last night in pre-Canada Day celebration. (It was St. Jean Baptiste last week, which means absolutely nothing to me since I worked that day, the fireworks kept my dog up, which in turn kept me up, and people were just generally obnoxious in displaying their Quebecois-ness... this happens in equal proportion to those of us in Quebec who demonstrate our Canadian-ness today. Fortuneately for greater Montreal society, I'm too hungover to do much by way of flaunting the red n' white.)

Anyway.

There was a point to this post:

I crave beignets and cafe au lait.

Instead of beignets and cafe au lait, I found New Orleans based-ROMY darkfic. (Somewhere nearby, Julie Andrews is singing, "These are a few of my favourite things.") It compensates for the lack of fried things covered in powdered sugar, trust me. (And you all know how I get with my cravings, right? I covet enthusiastically.)

Pairing: Rogue/Gambit

P.S. Wall-E is the shit, but more important than Wall-E were the Pixar previews. Can I just say that The Tale of Despereaux looks awesome? OMG. Daredevil Mouse with Big Ears. I'm totally sold already.

P.P.S. Ten days. (Hint: The Right Hand of Doom is > you.)

It's been a while since I've done one of these, and I'd like to keep something of a flow happening over the summer (since its the only time I seem to be able to read fanfiction at all). Fresh fan-to-fan recs, folks. (All Romy, all the time? Something like that.)

i. Should that be "Geeks bearing gifts"? Doesn't quite have the same resonance to it. Anyway, the surprise in the big wooden horse this time around is the potential for addiction, so proceed cautiously (it's free, though. So that should compensate, right?): iFanboy is love. I've been downloading the podcasts through Revision3, and I thought I ought to pass on the link. Time well wasted.

ii. Gambit in X-Men Legacy #13: I actually yawned at the prospect of another flashback. Meh.

iii. My daddy loves Indiana Jones. )

iv. The Man in Black (Stephen King): If there's one thing I love about The Dark Tower series, it's the overlap you find with King's other books. Sometimes the relative links are very thin, so you really need to think about what you know from the canonical seven books of the Dark Tower series (Insomnia, for example), and other times, the links are more obvious. (Everything's Eventual, or The Regulators, or Hearts in Atlantis - the shadow thrown by the Tower is far, ye ken?) Anyway, if you haven't caught the announcement yet: The Stand is being adapted to comic book. (Edit: The "links" between the two, The Stand and The Dark Tower are Flagg, or, Marten Broadcloak, also known as Walter: The man in black, and End-World, which appears in Wizard and Glass and The Gunslinger: Born.)

Welcome to End-World )
